![]() Oxfordshire and North Bucks County Swimming Championships Abingdon Vale Swimming Club stepped up their campaign at the second day of the 2015 County Championships winning their first Golds and gaining ground in the overall Championship standing. Sunday 18th January saw the 400m Freestyle and 400m Individual Medley events, followed by the Girls Age Group 4x50m Freestyle and Medley Relays. Gold in the 400m IM by 12Yr old Daniel McNamara and in the 400m Freestyle for 12Yr Emily Ford set the scene for a raft of Bronze placings which added valuable points to the overall club ranking in the Championship. With 53 individual swimmers taking part in this years Counties, over 40% of AVSC is competing at a high level showing the depth of talent a smaller club can develop. The girls relays in the afternoon saw AVSC A and B teams in each event, securing 2 more Bronze places for the 11/12Yr Girls Freestyle and Medley relay teams and then Silver for the 13/14Yr Girls Medley team. Results: 6 x AVSC Medallists : - Daniel McNamara 1 x Gold in 400 IM 13yr - Emily Ford 1 x Gold in 400 Free 13yr - Max Bolcato 2 x Bronzes in 400 Free & 400 IM 13yr - Nienke Lizenga 1 x Bronze in 400 IM 17yr - Sam Costello 1 x Bronze in 400 Free 17yr - Lottie James 1 x Bronze in 400 Free 11yr 3 x relays Medals: - Alice Martin, Natalia Druett, Lottie James, Jana Cooper Marcos - 2 x Bronzes in 4x50 Medley & 4x50 Free 11-12yr - Isabella Boyce Parr, Charlotte Rowley, Emily Ford, Yasmin Tajalli - 1 x Silver in 4x50 Medley Relays 13-14yr AVSC looks forward to the main County Championships which resume in 2 weeks time at the AquaVale pool in Aylesbury. Abingdon Vale, a Swim 21 accredited club, has been a competitive swimming club since 1993. As one of the most successful clubs in the County, we were crowned Sports Club of the Year and Coach of the Year in 2011. The club continues to build on this and is growing in numbers, being based out of Abingdon and Radley Pools.
