Abingdon Vale Swimming Club headed to Leamington Spa on Saturday night for the final Round 3 of the National Arena Swimming League competition. Swimming against teams from Stratford (hosts), two from Leicester, Hereford and Belper Marlins, the Abingdon squad overcame missing senior swimmers to pull out winning swim after winning swim - a total of 13 in the 50 event gala, to win overall by 19 points. Final Result: Abingdon Vale: 198 Leicester Sharks 179 Leicester Penguins 172 City of Hereford 170 Belper Marlins 156 Stand-out individual wins came from Lottie James(11) (50m Backstroke, 50m Fly), Caitlin Wheatley(18) (100m Fly), Daniel McNamara(13) (100m Backstroke), Sam Cruttenden(11) (50m Breaststroke), Max Bolcato(13) (100m Fly), Yasmin Tajalli(14) (100m Freestyle) & Tappy Ross(13) (100m Freestyle). But it was the team efforts in the Relays that made the difference with every swimmer fighting for every place and several younger swimmers 'swimming up' to compete in older age groups - Cameron Bullock(13), Max Bolcato(13), Oliver Hodgson(14) and Will Devetta(15). The result means Abingdon secured their position in the Premier Division of the competition for 2016, finishing mid-way in the 24-team West Midlands League.
