Performance Standard
Girls & Boys aged 14+ in the 2024-2025 season who have achieved:
Automatic Qualification (based on Olympic events)
Considered Qualification
Swimmers will only be offered a place if the head coach feels they can cope with the training level and commitment required to be in this squad.
Competition Level
Level 1, 2 and 3 meets as advised by the lead coach.
Training Ability
Swimmers will need to be able to go off 1:35 turnaround times or faster for 100’s sets on freestyle.
Training Commitment
Those swimmers who are not committed to training the required number of sessions per week will be considered for movement to another squad with fewer sessions.
Swimmers should attend a minimum of two gym/land sessions a week.
Training Balance and Specificity
The priority quality pool sessions will be Monday PM, Wednesday PM, Saturday AM/Sunday LC. Swimmers will be allocated sessions based on individual requirements. Other sessions will be balanced around these key sessions. To ensure a balanced training week & individual specialism, the group coach will recommend which sessions swimmers are offered relevant to specific events, race distances and training needs in the pool and in the gym.

Training Balance
In order to ensure that swimmers attend key sessions & to provide a balanced weekly training programme the group coach will recommend which sessions are the priority for each swimmer.
Those swimmers who are not committed to training the required number of sessions per week will be considered for movement to another squad with fewer sessions. Those swimmers who do not compete will be moved to an alternative squad.
Your training will contribute to your target of 400 IM and distance freestyle Long Course. This is a minimum requirement for all swimmers in this squad and will be a requirement for progression.
Competitions
Those swimmers wishing to compete should enter the meets recommended by their lead coach for their level, starting with L3 meets and progressing onto level 2 and 1 meets. All swimmers are expected, if selected, to be available to represent AVSC in the following events:

- Swimmers who were invited to compete in the Home Nations summer national championships in 2024.
- Swimmers aged 15 years who reached a final at the regional championships in the 2023-2024 season.
Considered Qualification
- Swimmers aged 14+ who qualified for the regional championships in an Olympic event in the 2023-2024.
- Girls & Boys 14+ in 2024-2025 season whom the head coach feels have the potential to achieve regional QT’s.
- Swimmers who committed fully to representing AVSC in team and relay competitions and met the training commitment required for the squad as outlined in the criteria document during the 2024-2025 season.
- Swimmers who were in PD1 in 2023-2024 who demonstrated a performance improvement of 5% or more, and who committed fully to the squad criteria based on attendance, competition plan, holidays, team selection.

- Swimmers 16yrs+ in the season: to attend a minimum of 6 pool sessions per week.
- Swimmers 15yrs in the season: to attend a minimum of 5 sessions per week, preferably 6.
- Swimmers 14yrs in the season: to attend a minimum of 4 sessions per week, preferably 5.
Those swimmers who are not committed to training the required number of sessions per week will be considered for movement to another squad with fewer sessions.

Swimmers aged 13-15 in the 2023-2024 season who have achieved:
Automatic Qualification
- Swimmers aged 13-15 in 2023-2024 who qualified for the regional championships in an Olympic event in the 2023-2024.
- Swimmers aged 13-15 years in 2023-2024 who qualified for ONB Championships in the 2023-2024 season.
Considered Qualification
- Swimmers who have demonstrated continued performance improvement or 10% or more and fulfilled the criteria outlined in 2023-2024.
- Swimmers who in 2023-2024 season attended a minimum of 4 sessions per week.
- Swimmers who committed to the competition programme including competing in meets away from home.
Training Commitment
- Swimmers should attend a minimum of 5 sessions per week.
Competition Goals:
- Compete regularly in 2 different 200m Main Form events
- Consistently targeting and improving their 400 IM and 400 Freestyle events, +1 distance Freestyle event
