Abingdon Vale Swimming Club is adding an Online Swim Club Management tool to its operations.  A new online AVSC Swim Manager has been integrated with the existing AVSC Website to provide Swimmers, Parents, Coach's and Club to manage all aspects of their club activities.

Membership, payments, meet entries, times and communications will all be available in the new system.  All preferences, consents and contact details can be self managed and the club volunteers, officials and their qualifications and clearances can be managed.

Co-Chair of the Club, Julia James, said "We are excited to be launching this new platform to our club members, including the AVSC Academy.  It will provide additional capabilities for managing club operations and make all our volunteer roles easier to fulfil.  The admin side of swimming is particularly cumbersome with paper meet entries and payments, so an online Account for members will help enormously"

AVSC is a non-profit club for Competitive Swimming, with County, Regional and National successes.  With an entry level AVSC Academy and a Main Club membership whch is growing, AVSC creates a supportive, fun and confident environment for boys and girls, 7-18 yrs.

As the Olympics gets underway, the swimming season for Abingdon Vale Swimming Club (AVSC) has only just finished, with the ASA Nationals in Sheffield Ponds Forge - the last UK swimming event of the season.

Max Bolcato (14) was competing for his first time at these Championships and had two tremendous swims in the 100m and 200m butterfly, making finals in both events. A personal best time of 1.02.72 in the 100m final meant he finished in 4th place overall.

His Nationals success rounds off a hugely successful season overall for AVSC, during which the club saw the largest number of swimmers ever competing at the ASA South East Regional Championships.  AVSC brought home 10 medals with 12 year old Lottie James winning Gold in the 200 IM, 3 Silvers and 2 Bronze. Max Bolcato won 2 Silvers and a Bronze and Seb Rawes a Bronze in the 50 fly.

Head Coach Amanda Ford said 'I am so proud of all the swimmers, their hard work and dedication to training over the year has certainly paid off!'

Abingdon Vale Swimming Club has gone high-tech with 2 AquaCam Coach-Comm kits which allows their Swimming Coaches to communicate directly with swimmers wearing waterproof headsets.  This direct radio connection means that real-time coaching can be provided on technique, as it happens in the pool, during training sessions.  

Local Business Applications Provider, Cloud9Apps, based in Station Road, Henley on Thames, has stepped in to help Abingdon Vale by funding the kit, which was new on the market last year.

Cloud9Apps Managing Director, David Ross said "Swimming is a demanding sport requiring commitment and development of skills.  As in business, we decided that anything that would help the coaches was a great investment in the club and the swimmers, and we look forward to seeing the results"

AVSC HeadCoach Amanda Ford took receipt of the training aids poolside and put them to use straight away.  The waterproof headsets sit over the ears and at the back of the neck and don't interfere with any stroke, even Butterfly. "We'll be able to tweak stroke technique and provide encouragement directly 1:1 or to a group of headsets - its fun too and there will be no escape!"

The Swimming Club competes across Oxfordshire, the South East and Nationally and believes in maximising all swimmer potential through skills, nutrition, dry land training and fitness.  CoChair Julia James said "AVSC is a non-profit making club with 150 members from all around the area - we rely on benefactors and sponsors like Cloud9Apps to make such purchases possible".

Abingdon Vale Swimming Club is looking to appoint one or more enthusiastic Level 2 coaches to join our existing coaching team.

We are a Swim21 accredited club with access to excellent facilities based in and around Abingdon,  Oxfordshire and are committed to supporting the development of our swimmers to reach their highest personal potential. This position will be an exciting opportunity to work alongside our newly appointed Head Coach Amanda Ford, coaching swimmers at all levels from development to national level; we have a number of successful regional and national swimmers.  This is an exciting time for our club and we hope you would like to join us on the next phase of our journey.

The job is part-time and the hours will be negotiated with the successful candidate(s).
You will be required to:

• Work with a number of squads as a leading coach or part of a team.
• Attend meets and coaching at weekends.
• Hold or be prepared to undergo a DBS check with the ASA.
• Be self-employed and must have a permit to work in the UK.
• Be available to start work soon after the interview.

Experience:          

• Experience of working with age group, youth and senior swimmers.
• Previous competitive swimming experience would be an advantage, but is not essential.

Skills required:

• Hold ASA Level 2 swim coaching qualification or equivalent.
• A high level of technical knowledge and understanding of LTAD.
• Adaptable to work in a team environment and to also work alone.
• Willing to take onboard feedback and have a positive influence on the club training programme.
• Communicate and work effectively to build strong relationships with swimmers, parents, coaches and the committee.
• Be highly motivated and an inspiring role model for swimmers and parents.
• Holding or working towards a Sports science/dry land qualification would be beneficial.

We believe the best way to equip our swimmers to achieve their full potential is to support our coaches in their own development so the swimmers benefit from the best coaching possible.  We continually support our coaches to gain additional qualifications and stay updated with the latest technique /theory updates by attending regular CPDs.

Salary: Dependent on hours, qualifications and experience
