They say silence is golden but there was no chance of that at the Aquae Sulis swimming Grand Prix at the Hengrove Park pool in Bristol last weekend (21/22 Nov), as over 30 swimming clubs competed for medals and Personal Bests (PBs). Abingdon Vale Swimming Club sent 22 swimmers, all of whom excelled and delivered in the fantastic competitive pool facility, but the golden performance was from Felix Sissins-Roffey. In his last competition as a 10 year old, Felix delivered win after win in all his events, accumulating 9 Gold Medals. In the 50m Freestyle, Felix swam in sub30 seconds, confirming his ranking as the 2nd fastest 10year old in Britain this year (a time of 29.79s), and the 6th fastest of all time (British Swimming Rankings). The future looks bright, with Felix also holding the 10&U AVSC records in allthe 12 events he has competed in, some set 30 years ago. The Grand Prix also saw two AVSC swimmers achieve National qualifying times: Yasmin Tajalli (14) qualified with her 50m Freestyle time of 27.20s and Will DeVetta (15) with his 50m Fly time of 27.11s, both setting their own new AVSC Club records in the process.
