Abingdon Vale Swimming Club is delighted to announce the appointment of Amanda Ford as Head Coach of AVSC. Amanda has been a key member of AVSC's coaching team for the past 6 years, and many of our swimmers have flourished under her guidance. She plays a vital role in developing our swimmers' technical skills, delivering land training classes, and introducing other strategies which are at the forefront of the sport to ensure continued improvement. Amanda is a Level 2 coach and Level 3 Personal Trainer with over 14 years' experience. She currently delivers the strength and conditioning training for the England Talent Level 1 Programme, both regionally and nationally. AVSC CoChair, Julia James said "We are thrilled that Amanda has agreed to become our new Head Coach, and are looking forward to working with her during the next exciting phase of AVSC's development". One of Amanda's first priorities as Head Coach will be reviewing the coaching provision across the club, to ensure that the needs of all squads are met; "Our objective is to create long - term development, whether a swimmer wants to participate or become a performance swimmer. The dedicated coaching team will help swimmers to achieve their objectives via skills development, and educate them to understand the vital role that nutrition, land training and sports psychology plays in their swimming progress" With Galas and Regional and National championships looming, AVSC swimmers from 9 to 18+ will be stepping up their training in the coming weeks to 'be the best you can be, be AVSC'. -AVSC Committee
