AVSC top swimmers competed at the Level 1 Long Course open meet at Aquae Sulis Bristol Hengrove 50m pool this weekend.
There were 3 sessions on each day, with the 400s being in the early slots and only Daniel (and Bruce) venturing down for that.
The main sessions were all 'Heat Declared Winners' for Age bands 9,10,11-12, 13-14 & 15+
This was an opportunity to get updated Long Course times and target upcoming SER regional qualifiying or considered times. It is also in the window for ASA Nationals in the summer.
After Daniels 2nd placing in the boys 13-14 400IM, the main sessions kicked off with both Rhian and Nienke swimming the 200IM and then Max leading his personal charge of about 8 events, getting a LC PB in the 100FR with 1.00.42 (note PBs based on entry times, which may well be pre shortcourse Counties converted times).
Lauren and Rhian then took on the 100Fly before Max scored another PB in his 2nd event, 50BK.
Natalia then joined in with a PB in her 50Breast with 38.29, swimminng with Nienke and Lauren.
For the afternoon Saturday session, AVSC had 6 swimmers in the girls 50Free, Bluebell and Millie getting PBs - by now it was becoming clear how hard those PBs were to get in this pool and being the first long course outing. Nienke just missed her sub-30s LC 50 for example.
Sam and Max both stepped up with PBs in the boys 50 Fly, with Max going sub-30 there and getting a 7th place in the 13-14 Age Group.
In the girls 100Back, Bluebell continued her form with nearly a 4s PB, but the boys and girls 100 and 200 Breast events saw plucky swim but no PBs - its a long way in Long Course swimming - hopefully the Bath LC sessions were showing their value.
Normal service resumed in the final event of the day - the boys 200Free, with Max putting in a storming swim to win his heat and 10th place with 2.13.93 and a 2s PB.
The return on Sunday saw no 400s so in at 9.30am with the boys 200IM. Will was here today with a small PB and Max took 3.4s off to get a deserved silver 2nd placing.
