The Oxon & N.Bucks ASA Swimming County Championships concluded after 4 weekends of racing, at the Aylesbury AquaVale competition swimming pool,  13-14th February 2016.

Clubs from all over the ONB region met to battle it out for podiums, records and the Junior and Open Championships.  Abingdon Vale take on the bigger clubs Oxford, Milton Keynes and Aylesbury Maxwell head to head as well as local rivals Bicester, Wantage and Witney.

"Once again, the AVSC team had great success, with the whole team performing to the highest level. We have a record number of age group swimmers achieving regional championship times at the county championships with hopefully more to come over upcoming meets"
Amanda Ford & Bruce Rennie, AVSC coaches

Between them, AVSC's 37 swimmers carried home 22 gold, 17 silver and 15 bronze medals, and finished 5th in the County Open Championship (a place ahead of local rivals Wantage, who pipped AVSC in the Junior Ranking).  An impressive 24 swimmers achieved finalist status (with 99 finals between them), AVSC club records were broken, and the swimmers between them achieved over 200 PBs, but stars Max and Lottie shone most brightly.

13 year old Max "the bullet" Bolcato delivered race winning swims across all four strokes, demonstrating an outstanding all round talent.  He finished his 2016 County campaign with 10 gold, 1 silver & 2 bronze medals.

11 year old Lottie James showed similar prowess and all round ability, winning a total of 11 medals, including gold in the 200 IM.

About Abingdon  Vale  Swimming  Club

Abingdon Vale, a Swim 21 accredited club, has been a competitive swimming club since 1993. As one of the most successful clubs in the County, we were crowned Sports Club of the Year and Coach of the Year in 2011. The club continues to build on this and is growing in numbers, being based out of Abingdon and Radley Pools.  We now have more swimmers than ever before who are winning County and Regional medals and qualifying for the British and National Championships
