Abingdon Vale Swimming Club had a fantastic evening at the Witney Swimming Club Development Gala on Saturday evening, 23rd January 2016.

The AVSC Squad of competitive swimmers aged 12yrs and under, took on the hosts Witney and teams from Oxford, Wantage, Henley and Bicester.  They raced in relays and were quickest off the blocks with three 1st and two 2nd places in the first 5 races.  Close races followed and Abingdon triumphed on the night which culminated in the finale - the Cannon Relay of 12x25m Freestyle swimming.

Results:
Abingdon Vale   243 pts
City of Oxford  204 pts
Witney & District  163.5 pts
Wantage White Horses  152 pts
Henley Swimming  125 pts
Bicester Bluefins  104.5 pts

The encouragement and supportive nature of the whole team towards each other was noticeable from all attending.  Abingdon Coach Amanda Ford said  "I was proud to see our swimmers put into practice the skills worked on in training and for them to gain confidence from their swims".

A huge well done to all those younger ones, including from the AVSC Academy, who competed in their first competition and gave it their all.

Thanks to hosts Witney for a great evening of racing.
