The AVSC Arena League team did us proud by coming in second place overall in the West Midlands. The tremendous performances by our swimmers mean that we advance to Division 1 next season. A big thank you to coaches Roger, Scott and Jackie

These prestigious awards were presnted at the Kassam Stadium, hosted by the Oxfordshire Sports Partnership and BBC Radio Oxford. It has been a great year for the Club - well done to each and every member.

Congratulations to the AVSC Arena League team for their achievement in Round 2- achieving first place for the second time! This puts Abingdon Vale 2nd overall in the West Midlands Divison 2.

Well done to the swimmers at the Coventry Level 1 meet. Nine year old Emily Ford came away with 3 gold medals (50 fly, 50 back, 200 back) and one silver medal (50 free). All of these swims broke AVSC Club Records. Her team mates were also on form. Nine year old Zoe Lovibond won two silvers (50 back and 200 free - in a club record time of 2.59.16) and one bronze medal (200 back). Her sister Ella Lovibond, also 9, came away with 2 bronze medals (200 breast and 50 breast - in a club record time of 50.52). 11 year old April Bedford won a bronze medal in the 50 fly and 12 year old Joseph Law won bronze in the 100 fly. 10 year old Oliver Hodgson broke two long course Club Records 50 free and 50 back. 10 year old Rhian Casey broke the 100 free club record, 14 year old Millie Royal broke the 50 fly club record and 16 year old Josh Harrop broke the 100 free club record.

Congratulations to Head Coach Scott Farnell who took part in the ASA National Senior Age Group Championships on 30 October. Scott placed first in the 50m breaststroke and smashed the current club record with a time of 30.22.

Great News! AVSC are finalists in two categories for the Oxfordshire Sports Awards for 2011

1) Oxfordshire Club of the Year : Abingdon Vale Swimming Club

2) Oxfordshire Coach of the Year: Scott Farnell

The awards evening will take place on Friday 9th December at the Kassam Stadium and is hosted by the Oxfordshire Sports Partnership and will be covered by the Oxford Mail & BBC Oxford.

Well done to Michael Esnouf and Lily Seaward who swam in the National Inter-County competition at Sheffield on 16 October. They helped to secure 3rd place for our County, Oxon and North Bucks, and the promotion of the team to the First Division.

We are pleased to announce we have been awarded two grants for £1,000 each, from the Mid-Counties Co-Op and from British Gas. These grants will be put to good use in further developing our Club.
